What People Are Saying

"Consumed is a lament, a thriller, a frenzy, a love story. Emily Robinson has written a wild book about confounding hunger. It's also a startling inquiry into the limits of perspective and personhood, where every act of language is a masticated bit of memory, making its way back toward the present moment. These pages are a provocation: Devour this malnourished world, before it devours you."

- Hilary Leichter, author of Temporary and Terrace Story: A Novel

"Addictive and immersive. Required reading for anyone who has ever had, hated, loved, starved, idealized, tortured, objectified, or penetrated a female body."

- Susanna Fogel, author of Nuclear Family: A Tragicomic Novel in Letters

"Enrapturing and propulsive from the very first page, Robinson's Consumed is a one-of-a-kind, heart-on-its-sleeve reckoning with trauma and expression. Both gripping and important, this is a must-read for anyone in their 20s."

- Amanda Montell, author of Cultish and Wordslut: A Feminist Guide to Taking Back the English Language

"I'm not sure exactly what kind of drug Emily Robinson's Consumed is, but it is certainly one that induces a level of hallucinatory focus that kept me obsessively reading until I reached its mad, mad conclusion. Brilliant work. I need more novels by this author."

- Sara Benincasa, author of Agorafabulous! and DC Trip

"A surprising, wild, hilarious, weird-in-the-best-way, and horrifying trip through Italy, anxious brains, and a feast of brilliant lines. Emily Robinson's Consumed is like nothing I've ever read. Devour this book/let it devour you."

- David Iserson, author of Firecracker

"This page-turning psychological thriller is delightfully unique. It is beautiful and terrifying. It will haunt you."

- Zara Lisbon, author of Fake Plastic Girl and Fake Plastic World
